About Ven. Jue Ji


Ven. Jue Ji renounced her household life and become a Buddhist nun under Venerable Master Hsing Yun at Fo Guang Shan, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1990. She obtained her PhD degree at the University of Hong Kong in 2008, exploring her research interest in contemporary Chinese Buddhism and the relevance of Humanistic Buddhism in the modern world. She believes that the doctrine of nondualism would guide one to realize “When the mind is pure, the Buddha land will be pure” pronounced by the central figure, Vimalakirti, in the Vimalakirti Sutra.


Through Fo Guang Chan practice in daily life, Ven. Jue Ji helps people reduce their pressure from work and establish self-confidence in their social network. She is currently the director of Fo Guang Shan Xiang Yun Temple, Austin, Texas. By applying the tenet of nondualism, she is leading her Austin Buddhist community, a “salad bowl” of multi-cultural,…
